After success of PM2 LCD RF Power Meter Kits, with
hundreds of users globally, I came to understand small & big
changes opted by the radio amateurs.
I felt bad when I saw pictures of
assembled units by hams, really struggled to put their
assembled PM2 in a box!!
I decided to give face lift to good old PM2!!
Further, few small
forgotten facilities were also added to PM3:
1. DC 12V
or Battery operation.
2. Data
Logger output supported by OZ8JYL
Windows Software
and G4HFQ
Polar Plot Software
3. Remote
LCD mounting
4. Remote
Menu Push Button mounting
5. Support
for AD8307 SMT (by way of add-on board)
6. Data
output at RS232 Levels by using a MAX232.
What has changed from PM2
to PM3?
1. Basic Schematic is same
with change in labels.
2. Addition of FRC 16 pin connector
for Main Board and R/A 16FRC for LCD. A Female-to-Female, 30cm long,
16-wire ribbon cable connects Board to 2x20 LCD.
3. Battery/DC switch. You may
now have PM3 operates on battery. When on Battery, LCD Back-Light is
cut-off to save power.
4. DIP Switches for changing LCD
Back Light Forward/Reverse Polarity.
5. SMT support for AD8307 by
way of providing a small add-on board.
6. Contrast preset now at PCB
edge.
7. Works
well with G4HFQ "Polar Plot" Software
